Landscaping and ground works to create new Community Gardens, incorporating raised planting beds, benches, shed and container.
These Community Gardens were a joint venture between ourselves and Adactus Housing Group Ltd, which involved Holland St Primary School, who we invited to design a poster to describe the venture, which was producing a series of planting beds to encourage the community to grow their own vegetables. There was also an enclosed area for the older people of the community to produce fruit and vegetables for a minimum rent which is subsidised by the Housing Association The Community who were involved with the scheme have their own keys and can come and go as they want.
Granada Reports filmed the opening ceremony and prizes were presented to the winning pupils of the poster competition. Our thanks go to Adactus Housing Group for organising the opening day with refreshments and to Suzanne Hughes for organising Granada Reports who filmed the opening ceremony, and introduced Aiden Byrne, the Michelin Star Chef, based at Mr Coopers at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, who put on a cookery display for the pupils at the school.
